OUR TEAM

Joan CHEUNG
Centre Director

Hi, parents and carers! My name is Joan Cheung, the Centre Director of ILO Norlane.

As a mother of two children and with over 24 years of experience in early childhood education, I have had the privilege of serving as the role of Centre Manager for the past 9 years. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's degree in Education specialising in Educational and Developmental Psychology.

I firmly believe that childhood is a unique and precious stage in our life cycle. Our utmost mission at ILO Norlane is to provide a safe, healthy, enriching, and interactive environment for young children. We cherish and celebrate individual differences, aiming to unlock each child's potential and promote their self-esteem. We strive to deliver high-quality services that support children's holistic development.

I deeply feel that ILO Norlane is a place filled with love. Within this small world, I am immensely grateful for our dedicated team, who truly exemplify the essence of loving education. Together, we provide comprehensive and balanced nurturing to children during their formative years, fostering their creativity and critical thinking skills. This approach enables children to not only enjoy the process of learning but also to embrace the joy of seeking knowledge and surpass their own limits. Through this transformative journey, our children discover the pleasure of learning, cultivate lifelong learning abilities and habits, and experience a unique childhood!

Rebecca CHAN
Centre Manager

I’m Rebecca Chan, and it is a great pleasure for me to assume the role of Centre Manager at ILO Norlane. Looking back on my journey, I fondly recall the dear memories of my time studying in Cairns, a period that holds a special place in my heart. Since then, I have returned to Hong Kong and dedicated nearly twenty years to a fulfilling career in childcare education, which has deepened my passion for nurturing young minds.

Joining the esteemed team at ILO Norlane fills me with genuine excitement. Collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds is a source of inspiration and growth for me. To enhance my pedagogical skills, I pursued a bachelor's degree in Hong Kong and obtained certifications in Cert III and a diploma in early childhood education in Australia.

At ILO Norlane, the children are incredibly adorable and innocent. My days are filled with joy as I engage with them, enjoying playful interactions with toddlers and cherishing tender moments spent with infants. Additionally, the camaraderie I share with my colleagues is truly invaluable. Despite the demands of our busy routines and schedules, the satisfaction we derive from our work is immeasurable.

My earnest desire is to witness every child at ILO Norlane thrive in an environment brimming with warmth and compassion. It is my privilege to be a part of their growth and development, and I am committed to creating a nurturing space where they can flourish.

Kerri Anne MARUMARU Service Improvement Specialist

Hello, I'm Kerri Anne Marumaru. With 22 years of experience in the childcare field, I have successfully completed a bi-cultural Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood Education through Te Tari Puna O Aotearoa (New Zealand Childcare Association).

I strongly believe that the relationships children form and the environment they are exposed to have a direct impact on their development and learning. As a proud mother of three boys and a lovely girl, aged 27, 26, 23, and 18, I deeply cherish the moments spent with my family. Singing is my passion, and I have even released a bi-cultural CD aimed at assisting teachers in implementing a bi-cultural programme through music.

One aspect that truly stands out to me is the structured, project-based programme offered by HEI and ILO to our families and children. It effectively prepares them for a successful transition to school. I eagerly look forward to the opportunity of working closely with our wonderful children, their families, and the dedicated staff here.
